Le Rouge et le Noir, est un roman écrit par Stendhal, publié pour la première fois à Paris chez Levasseur le 13 novembre 1830, bien que l’édition originale mentionne la date de 1831. C’est son deuxième roman, après Armance.Il est cité par William Somerset Maugham en 1954, dans son essai Ten Novels and Their Authors, parmi les dix plus grands romans jamais écrits.
